Allersoothe® Elixir

Allersoothe® Elixir is a banana and vanilla flavoured antihistamine oral solution for children aged 2 years and over, that is sugar and alcohol free.

Allersoothe® Elixir

A long-acting antihistamine which can be used to relieve symptoms of allergic disorders, including hay fever, allergic rhinitis, urticaria (hives) and allergic reactions to insect bites and stings; and for the prevention and treatment of travel sickness.

Active ingredients

Promethazine hydrochloride 5 mg/5 mL, Oral Solution.

Dosage

Dosage may depend on the condition being treated and the individual response of the child.

Give the lowest dose that adequately relieves symptoms.

Ask your Pharmacist for advice.

Allergic conditions 2-5 years: 5-15 mL for single dose at night 5 mL per dose if taking 2-3 times daily 6-12 years: 10-25 mL for single dose at night 10 mL if taking 2-3 times daily Sedation For short term use for sedation, on the advice of a doctor or pharmacist.

Do not use for more than a few days.

2-5 years: 5-15 mL for single dose at night 6-12 years: 10 ?

25 mL for single dose at night Travel Sickness Single dose taken the night before travel and repeated after 6 – 8 hours on the following day if necessary.

2-5 years: 5 mL 6-12 years: 10 mL Nausea & Vomiting 2-5 years: 5 mL every 4 – 6 hours to a maximum daily dose of 15 mL 6-12 years: 10 mL every 4 -6 hours to a maximum daily dose of 10 mL

Warnings

This product should not be given to children under 2 years of age.

Do not give to children aged between 2 and 11 years of age except on the advice of a doctor, pharmacist or nurse practitioner.

Allersoothe® may cause drowsiness.

If affected do not drive a vehicle or operate machinery.

Avoid alcohol.

If you are pregnant or may become pregnant, or are breastfeeding, check with your pharmacist or doctor before taking this medicine.

Also contains benzoates.
